Wii U Adds Unity Support

While it may not seem like a big deal, signing up Unity for Wii U is a giant step forward for the publisher. How do you get more 3rd party developers? Allow more tools that they already know to develop more games.

In the agreement, Nintendo is allowed to “distribute the Unity development platform to its in-house, external, and third party licensee developers,” while developers who use the engine should be able to bring their new and existing games to the Wii U audience.

The plan is to have the Wii U add on deployed to Unity’s 1.2 million licensers by next year. Nintendo and Unity are working together to make that happen ASAP.
